4th of July

Ok so I'm a little late on posting about the 4th of July. Lets just say the last 2 weeks have been extremely stressful, and blogging has been put to the wayside. The 4th of July was amazing. We spent the day at Mike's parents house BBQin' and playing games. For fireworks we walked across the street from my parents house to Alta Sierra (the Jr High) and watched the Buchanan HS fireworks. AMAZING! I love going to Alta. Its shady, and Maddy can run around in the middle of the track until the fireworks start. I was a little nervous about fireworks this year. He's 2 now, and I thought for sure he would be scared and throw a crying fit. To my suprise he was an ANGEL! He actually LIKED the fireworks! Made me so happy! Mikey layed on the blanket and Maddy leaned up against him and just watched in awe. He kept saying "WOW! COOL!" It was such a fun night! Happy Birthday America!
Maddy lovin' the fireworks
About the best family picture we took. The rest were.... less than perfect.

You Learn Something New Everyday

I know this is kinda a random thought, and really has no relevance to my life, but it's something I just had to share. As a manicurist I have many women come through my studio from all walks of life. One client in particular has been coming to me since I first started 6 years ago. She was still in junior high so I feel almost like I've watched this client grown up, in a sense. She is now in college, and has joined a sorority. Now when I think of a sorority I think of "Legally Blonde". Everyone dresses real preppy and the girls all get thier hair and pedicures done together. I always had the idea that a sorority is just a big fun girly club. But after the conversation I had this week with my client, my picture of what a sorority really is, has COMPLETELY changed. It went a little something like this...
me: hey kortni, what are you going to be doing for the 4th of july this weekend?
kort: im not sure yet.
me: well isnt the sorority doing something for it?
kort: well we have to move out of the sorority house for the summer because we dont have a "house mom" during the summer. im living back home till school starts again so im not sure what ill be doing on saturday yet. im guessing me and some friends will go to the fraternity house.
me: oh... arent the fraternity houses closed if the sorority houses are closed?
korn: no, fraternities are always open. sororities can only be open when there is a house mom present.
me: why would that matter?
kort: because by law if a house mom isnt present, its considered a brothel.
omgoodness. really!? a brothel? youve GOT to be kidding me. Not exactly the picture of a sorority I had in mind...

Fishy!

Maddox loves to watch Nemo. When we go to eat Sushi, he always wants to watch the fish tank. We thought that it might be fun with his new obsession to get him a fish! So friday night we headed to walmart. (only the best for our kid). We bough 10 (at 10 cents a piece we splurged. lol). Today there are 4 left. I dont think he has noticed.

Happy Belated Fathers Day

I know its a little late for this, but I had to write a little somethin' somethin' about Father Day. hope Mike had a good day. Maddy and I did our best to let him take a nap, and keep the gripin' to a minimum (probably the best present I could have given Mike! lol). We even made him breakfast in bed! I sure am grateful for Mike and his role as a Father. I hope he felt how much we truly appreciate him.
