Birthdays!

This week was FULL of birthdays! Tuesday my dad celebrated his 50th... Monday night we had a party at Casa Corona with family and friends. He LOVED it! Here are some pictures of the festivities.

Then on Thursday my best friend turned 26. I cant believe we are getting so old! Ive known this girl like 13 years, and let me tell you, we have had some CRRAAAAAZY times. I wont even go in to all the fun we've had. Ok I'll mention a few... How about the time we were in Vegas with her grandma (I cant even remember why on earth we would be in vegas with her grandma, but we were) and somehow we ended up at a Tom Jones concert. We had NO clue who he was, but we went to his concert anyways, and we loved it. Or how about the weekend trip to San Francisco where we stayed in a CRAPPY hotel room. We ended up walking up and down the streets at midnight, and cops had to escort us back to the hotel room so we wouldnt get kidnapped. Did I mention that that was the weekend we learned that there really are rats the size of small dogs? SICK. Or how about when we would try to go to the clubs and before we left her mom would have to read to us out the "For Strength of the Youth" Pamphlet, which of course RUINED any possible fun we would have for the rest of the night. I love her So so much. She is going away to Africa (ya, i said Africa) for the summer and then shes off to school! Im going to miss her SOOO much! Happy Birthday Smellycat!

Ending to A Perfect Week....

NOT!

In my last post I shared how wonderful my week had been. Friday we were expected to take family pictures by a wonderful photographer (go to michelletandyphotography.blogspot.com) and I was MORE than excited! Our appointment was set for 530 that evening. She called around 330 and said that it was awfully windy outside and it looked like rain might be coming in, so could we postponed? I have to admit that I was a little disappointed, but the thought of postponing had run through my mind due to weather as well, so we agreed to reschedule for the next day. Saturday we woke up, and while I was doing the dishes I hear a loud "BOOM" coming from the hallway, followed by Mike yelling "oh my gosh!" . I ran to see what the commotion was about. Mike had Maddox over his shoulder and Maddox was screaming. As Mike explained that Maddox had put on a pair of my flip flops and tripped over his feet, running right into the corner of the wall. I kinda got on Mike a little bit and told him that if he had just pretended like it was a funny trick Maddox had done instead of yelling then Maddox wouldnt be so upset. By this time I had taken Maddox and put him over my shoulder. The next thing I know Mike it turning white and said, "Ash look at his head".

This is what I saw...

I kinda freaked out. Told Mike to grab me some clothes and we were off to the hospital to the ER. One side of the bump was black within minutes and there was a split in the swelling. I thought for sure he would need stitches. By the time we got to the hospital and stood in line to sign him in, the swelling had gone down quite a bit, and he had calmed down completely. We decided not to even sit in the ER and just watch him for the rest of the day. The swelling went down quite a bit, but needless to say, we had to cancel our appointment for family pictures. I was so disappointed but Im glad my little baby is ok... WHAT A WEEK!

My Week

Maddox has been sick since Sunday, with the flu... YUCK. He has at least been waking up at least 3 times a night which means Im TIRED. Yesterday Mike opened the cupboard and a shelf fell out. 3 bowls broke all over our kitchen floor, then Maddox threw a bowl over his high chair today and broke that bowl. What are the odds that we would break 4 bowls in less than 24 hours, and when is Maddy gonna be over the flu? Your guess is as good as mine.

Happy Birthday Biggest Little Boy!

Maddox turned 2 today! I cant believe its been 2 years since he was born! He is growing up WAY too fast! Saturday we had a little family get-together and enjoyed Maddy's favorite things. Hotdogs, (or as he would say "DOGS") and strawberries. Grandma and Grandpa Burton took home the prize of "best gift". They got him a "Cars" bike that he just cant get enough of!

I sure love my biggest little boy SO much! Some of the things he loves right now is anything "Cars" (what boy doesnt!). He has an obsession with keys. He loves carrying them and finding new places to put them. I love the way he says "mom". He says it with such conviction. He is officially OFF the "ba ba" AND he doesnt sleep in our bed. HALLELUJAH! My favorite is watching him dance to the opening credits of "Olivia". Especially when he kicks his little foot out at the end. He loves the water, and he loves being outside. He is happiest naked. I love that the second he wakes up he comes and gives me a kiss without saying a word. Hes getting really good at folding his arms and sitting through prayers, and now and then we even get an "amen" out of him. I think its cute when he claps and moves his head back and forth to the beat when we are in the car listening to music. He LOVES riding in the car. Just recently he started "tickling". It doesnt really tickle, its even more of a scratch really, but he sure gets a kick out of himself when he does it. He gets really excited when his friends come over. When he sees the car pull up he runs into the driveway waving and yelling "guys! guys!" and has to give each one a kiss before they come in. Its usually pretty annoying to the friends, but its way of showing them he cares. He thinks its funny when I'm naked, and will laugh hysterically. Its given me a little complex but I'm sure one day I will get over it. He LOVES going to sleep! Ive never seen a child more excited, or willing to go "night". He usually is the one to tell me he is ready. Thats so bizzar to me, but Im not going to question it. He really is the best little guy I could ask for. I love him so much! Im so glad he's all mine! (ok mikes too)

Last week was General Conference. Maddy's favorite part is leading the choir, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir of course!

Big Boy Bed

We are all moved in to our new place and we LOVE it!!!! It is SOOO nice to have our own space. Since Maddy's birthday is in a few short weeks we decided to buy him a "big boy bed". It had cars on it an everything so I thought for sure he would love it. He has been sleeping with us since he was born, and needless to say it was getting old. Mike and I promised ourselves once we moved, it was over. The first night Maddy struggled, which I expected being in a new place, and a new bed. Halfway through the night he insisted I sleep next to him ON THE FLOOR! Not fun, but at least we were breaking the habit of him sleeping in our bed. The next night he slept on the floor with me. Now he wont sleep in his bed at all. HOWEVER... he sleeps throught the night on the couch. So for now, thats where he stays. Im to the point where as long as he is asleep, and its not in my bed, he can sleep wherever he wants. In his bed, on the couch, in the bathtub... i dont care! So needless to say, ive considered it a success that he officially doesnt sleep in our bed! Whoo hoo! Here are a few pictures of Mike setting up the bed... maybe one day Maddy will actually use it, for longer than an hour.(yes, Maddy still uses a bottle... thats our next project)
