Happy Birthday Sis

Alright so I know her birthday was over 2 weeks ago, but we had a great time visiting her for the occassion. We had dinner at a great little restaraunt in Monterey, and ended up at the pier afterwards. We found this fun little pirate ship that Maddox could play on. He had a blast. On the night of Kristen's birthday, we drove to Carmel and had a bonfire. This was Maddy's first experience at a bonfire (at least since he was 6 months old) and he loved it. He walked all around the campsite looking for things to throw in the fire. He loved roasting marshmellows and hotdogs. He had the best time!

So enough about the trip, lets talk about my sis. It was HER birthday afterall. She's the best. She really is like a second mother to Maddox. He loves her so much. He literally asks about "kiss" everyday. I love that she is so good to him. Whenever we are together we switch kids so she takes care of Maddox and I take care of Logan. She watched Maddox for Mike and I when we went on vacation. I knew he was in good hands. I didnt have to worry about him one bit. She really is the best sister in the whole world. Hope you had a great birthday aunt kiss!

Last Month...

Last month was a big month for us. We went on vacation for 8 days to Las Vegas (Mike refers to it as Lost Wages. That seems a little more appropriate for the locale) We had so much fun. Mike and I were able to go for a few days for a mini get-away. The next couple of days were spent at a convention at the MGM for Mike's work. The last couple of days Maddox came over and we spent that last few days having fun FuN FUN!

Mike and I only took 1 picture the entire 5 days we were there by ourself. I guess we were just too busy having fun to remember to take any pictures.

When Maddox came (thank goodness for in-laws who love Vegas too. They brought him over for the weekend) thats when the real fun began. We always have to stop at the Bass Pro Shop. The boys had a blast shooting the "guns".

Maddox also loves to go fishing. Pa Rae (Mike's dad) bought Maddy a fishing pole for his first Christmas (maddox was 8 months old. I suppose it's never to early to get 'em going!). Maddox is just big enough now to actually use it, and a good majority of summer evening was spent out by the Burton's pool. Maddox was take his fishing pole and cast it, and real it in. Over and over and over.... As adults we usually sit in awe of how good he is at it. I think most 3 year olds wouldn't have a clue how to cast. (It took ME a while to figure out), and yet he's a pro. Pa Rae agreed it was time to get Maddox to the lake. It was time to get Maddox his own life jacket. While wandering through Bass Pro Shop looking for the life jacket section, of course we had to stop and look at all the other fishing junk. There were so many different kinds of fake pastic wiggly fishes, Maddys little heart was as happy as can be. I love that Pa Rae and Maddox have this fun hobby in common.

The last full day we were there, Na Wez and Pa Rae wanted to take Maddy to Circus Circus to play games and win a punch of prizes. Na and Pa sure got into the games. They were ruthless. Always beating out the 4 and 5 year old kids, all for a stuffed animal to give to thier grandson. It was so fun watching them be so competitive!

What a GREAT trip!

Left Unattended

Being pregnant and tending a 3 year old can be hard. Today is a hard day. Maddox has been an angel, but I just don't have the energy to do much at all, let alone keep up after him. I decided this afternoon to lay in bed for a while, and just keep an ear on him... I can supervise 2 rooms over right? WRONG. I could hear him playing....I could even hear him get into our hall closet, but I didnt hear much after that. I kept yelling for him, asking what he was doing, to which he would reply "playing mom!" Great! Keep playing. I decided after a while I better get up and take a look to make sure nothing was getting too out of hand. Needless to say he pulled just about everything out of our hall closet... and continued to play with whatever he could find in about every room of our apartment. Whats even more frustrating is that next week we are leaving out of town, and so I've been extra good to keep everything extra clean since my sister and her hubby and son will be staying here while we are away. I guess I can at least be thankful that he didnt get into the fridge and stain any carpet or furnature with mustard or anything like that. Only a stroller, some curling ribbon, shoes (shoes, shoes and more shoes), a sleeping bag, his golf set and balls, and a play fishing pole which somehow ended up hanging from the handle of our entertainment center. I guess I shouldn't have left him unattended.....

4th of July

We had TONS of fun over the 4th of July weekend. Saturday morning was spent at the ward pancake breakfast, followed by the boys playing video games and I went yard saling with my mother in law. By the afternoon I had a migrain so for pretty much the rest of the day while the boys swam and swam and swam and swam and swam. Sunday after church we went to my parents home for a BBQ and then walked to Alta Sierra and watched the Buchanan fireworks. We love walking over to ASI a few hours before the fireworks actually start. There is plenty of shade, and Maddy loves playing with the other kids while the adults sit around playing card games (Monopoly is the new fave) and drink sodie pops.
Most kids hate fireworks, or at least the sound of them. Maddox on the other hand is a different kid. He talked about fireworks from the moment he saw the stands go up. Every time we drove by a stand he would yell "fireworks!" He was so excited. While most kids are crying, this is the highlight of Maddy's year. I have to admit, I had a hard time watching the firework show. I was too busy watching Maddy get excited and talk about how each one was his favorite. Here are a few expressions I caught.

Shmeckle Day

At our last appointment, good ol' Dr K told us that our next ultrasound will be on Shmeckle Day. "excuse me? its what?" "Shmeckle Day"... looking slightly confused he explained that it's the day we find out if baby burton has a shmeckle or not. I couldn't help but laugh. Can you tell our Dr is Jewish? LOVE IT! Anyways. We thought it would be fun to ask our family and friends what they thought. Do you think baby burton has a shmeckle, or no shmeckle? Let us know on the pole to the right. Don't know what a shmeckle is? Feel free to google it and I'm sure you will figure it out. Happy voting!

There's a Spaceship in my Tummy

Well, at least that's what Maddox tells me. I guess we can make it official and let the blog world know... yes. We're pregnant. FINALLY. Its been a rough year. Lots of prayers. Lots of meds. Lots of tears. Lots of anxiety. Lots of waiting. But it happened. FINALLY. For the first few weeks after we told Maddox there was a baby in my tummy he would talk about it quite often. He would tickle my tummy saying he was tickling the baby. He would give my tummy kisses for the baby. It was quite cute and I loved it. Then 2 weeks ago we had an ultrasound. We brought the picture home to show Maddox. I said "Maddox, do you know what that is?!" He looked at the picture for a minute and said "spaceship". "No no Maddy, thats the baby in mom's tummy." To which he replied "no mom, spaceship". hm... So a few days later I showed him a picture in What to Expect when Expecting of what Baby Burton should look like. I said "look maddy, its what the baby in mommys tummy looks like". Again, "no mommy. spaceship in moms tummy." So I guess it's official. We're not having a baby. In December we will be proud parents of a baby spaceship. We couldn't be happier.
